While the world went quietly insane with guns and bombs and explosions, we walked away. We slid into the shadows of the forests and did our best to get lost. We found others like us wandering and joined together. We built new homes deep in the forests were we could be ignored. We built gardens and learned how to hunt. We sang and we worked and learned to fish. We laughed and hugged each other at the end of each day and relished the dirt under our nails. We knew the world would find us eventually but for now, there was just the land, the forest, and us.
