I clung to you
You were there to hold me still, while the world whirled.
You let me explore and learn while tethered.
but then the tether broke.
I was free, and swirling in the colors and tides,
and for a time I drowned.
I curled in on myself, denying that there was color,
nauseated by the motion.
It took time for me to stretch and open my eyes again.
You pushed and pushed, refusing to allow me to take my own time,
this just made me retreat all the harder,
till I finally broke.
And I broke us in the process.
Now there is just me, stepping back into the light.
